XMAS decorations

This year I have chosen pink, silver and white as the main colours for my XMAS decorations. We also got a real tree. The scent is wonderful. I had almost forgotten how XMAS was smelling but now I am reminded every day. Have you prepared everything for next week or are you still in the middle of it all? I still need to get one or two presents. We have thought about the food already but we still need to organise everything. But this year we take it really slow. Just the five of us. No big hassle. Relax as much as possible. Our daughter is already very excited about all the XMAS trees. For her it might be the first time to realise the whole thing...

Big boys

Our little babies have grown a lot! They are already 8 months old. Time has been flying. We had a short phase where things were easier when they were simply crawling. But now they are pulling themselves up all the time and want to stand. Only problem - half of the time they don't know how to get down again and we have at least ten bumps per day. And watching two active babies at the same time is a tough job. So far we had no major bruises or injuries. Hope they will soon learn safety standards, too!

DIY: Sleeping bag for baby doll

My daughter's baby doll has got a new sleeping bag. I made this one in one evening session and she was so happy and thankful the next day when she saw it. Baby has worn it every night since. It's made of a single layer of fabric and the armholes and the neckline are finished with bias tape. It closes with a zipper in the front. I used three different fabrics (one for the back and two different ones for the fronts) and I decorated it with a nice ribbon and an applicated little bird. Maybe I should also make one for the real babies...

Happy Halloween - Boo

Happy Halloween! My daughter is a little ladybug this year. I made her costume from a black tee, some pom poms and red felt. Just cut wings from the felt and use some pretty lining for the backside. Sew a few pom poms onto the wings and then finally sew the wings to the back of the tee. I used a black lace skirt to complete the costume which also got a little pom pom deco in the front. The antennas are also made from pom poms that I fixed with craft wire to a hair band.

DIY: Nappies for a baby doll

Another little project. I made these nappies for my daughter's baby doll from fabric scraps and bias tape. They close with velcro. My daughter was super excited about them making me a very happy mommy. If you are interested in the pattern let me know and I can send you a copy. It's for a 40 cm tall baby doll.

DIY: Branch rail for clothes

I have converted my change table into a wardrobe for the babies. I have seen these lovely hanging branches used as clothes rail and so I went into the woods and got one. After sawing it to the right length I drilled two holes near the ends and another two holes into the upper shelf of the change table. Then I got it hanging using ribbon with knots at the ends.

Cute, isn't it?

Onesies Parade

I got my fabric markers out again and have been painting on white baby bodysuits. That was quickly done and a bit of fun too. Now my baby boys have their very individual style...

DIY: Colouring set on the go

For our trip to Germany I got behind my sewing machine again and created this little bag for crayons and colour books. So that we could take it everywhere we went. It's really handy. Now our little one can colour when we go out for coffee or to a restaurant. And we can enjoy the outing even more. It was quickly made out of a few leftover pieces of fabric.

We are back!

We went on a trip to Germany. Oh it was so great. The kids were all doing fine on the plane (yes yes unbelievable, isn't it?). And then we stayed at my parents' place and it was so nice not to have to cook and even being able to give the kids away as they were happy to play with granny and grandpa. And for my toddler daughter is was so exciting, being on a plane, riding in a nice car (well we had several different rental ones) instead of having to take one of HK's old bumpy taxis. And then the playgrounds! There was sand everywhere instead of rubber mats. And grass and fresh air. And my mum even has a couple of chickens. So you can imagine how the little girl enjoyed her stay.
So we all came back refreshed and relaxed but then the jetlag hit us and half of the battery is already empty. So maybe next year we'll stay a little bit longer so that the effort is worth it.
