Happy birthday to Mama...

Wednesday was my 40th birthday. Do I feel different now? Can't really say. It sounds old. But in my opinion age is what you make of it. And having three small children in the house doesn't leave that much time to have long thoughts about your age anyway. So we had a great day with some swimming in the pool, a walk around the Peak (HK's best known mountain), a nice lunch, mini cupcakes and a glass of Champagne on the balcony. If that's what I have to expect for the next years then I am fine with that...

Lately I am in love with this inspiration idea. Take an outfit and turn it into a room. I have searched the internet for matching outfits and rooms and came up with these three examples...

Here are even more examples I have collected via PINTEREST:

Creative again - Decorating bodysuits for babies

I finally managed to steal an hour for myself and be creative. I had a few bodysuits for the boys that needed decoration. Two white ones that I beautified with fabric markers and two with teddy bears on the front. I don't like any teddy bears on clothes or walls. Especially not those cartoon type ones. So there was need for some change. In the end I covered the teddy bears with cut-outs from IKEA fabric which I applicated on the bodysuits. So now we have four more pieces to use for the twins.

Super busy times

These little guys are keeping me busy. For the last six weeks they have either been sleeping or feeding and in between we had a lot of crying. The only thing that settles them is being out and about with mummy in their carrier. So my day consists of 2-hour-intervals between each feed that are filled with lots of walking outside. Because walking inside the house isn't the same in my boys opinion. We have a nice park not far from home so it sees me several times a day at the moment. But in the end it could still be worse with no cure for their crying. I just don't have much time for anything else. All three kids are usually starting their nighttime sleep around 8 o'clock. So I have 2 hours for myself afterwards. Then I have to feed them again and go to bed myself to get at least a little bit of sleep.

Thanks to WEEGO I am able to carry both babies at the same time. That makes things so much easier. Especially as they don't like to be in their stroller but want to be close to mummy. Thanks for saving my life WEEGO!

Another Lotta Jansdotter dress in Missoni style

I have made another Lotta Jansdotter dress. This time in Missoni style. Since it is made of knitwear it's really comfy. Oh and... Happy Easter!

DIY: Easter crafts and deco

This year my daughter is old enough to go on the Easter egg hunt. But instead of hunting eggs I have prepared little goodie bags instead. To give them an Easter look I fixed little egg cards at them. I also made a felt bag for the little hunter.
Together with my daughter I did some egg ornaments decorating too. I cut eggs from card board and we then stuck patches of origami paper on them. They are now part of my Easter decoration and my daughter is very proud she helped with them!

Our new family members

Here come the new family members. They were born last Tuesday and look absolutely the same. We still haven't found anything to tell them apart. So we just kept the hospital bracelet in place for one of them until we find something else. The entire family is very happy and proud! But you might not see many updates for my blog in the coming weeks as they really keep us busy! Everything has to be done twice...

Sewing project of the month (March): Kimono Clutch

I have checked the prices at Melaine (a shop in Hong Kong) over and over again but 200 Euro are far more than I want to spent for this vintage Kimono clutch. Plus I have two obis in my wardrobe which I could use to make it. So this year I had to sew one!

So the project for March is this red Kimono clutch:

I simply made it out of three rectangular pieces of Kimono fabric (I used the whole width of an obi). The two outer pieces got interfacing as backing and the middle piece was turned into a zipper pocket with bias tape used for the hems. I used a very narrow zig-zag stitch to close the left and right seam of the outer and inner pocket as it already had a nice clean edge because it was an obi. The upper seams were closed before that step using a normal straight stitch. At last I assembled the whole clutch and stitched the side seams together using a straight stitch. I am still considering whether I should use a button or similar to properly close it but it also falls nicely in place after I have treated it with my steamer. So maybe I just leave it as simple as it its.
