IKEA christmas deco

I found these adorable little toadstools at IKEA this week. I just had to bring them home. So they turned our living room into a little forest. Only need to wait for the deers now...

I also saw a christmas tree decorated with toadstools the other day at herz-allerliebst.de. It's so cute!

The guest room is ready

Just in time for my mum's arrival on Friday the guest room is finally ready. Originally I wanted to sew the curtains and experiment with Denim patchwork but due to lack of time and effort it's now IKEA velvet curtains. In fact they give the room a cozy luxury flair which is a really good compromise I think. Who knows how Denim patchwork would have turned out after all...

The little yellow dress

This project had been halfway done lying around for a couple of months. Now I finally finished it off and congratulated myself. I still like the yellow colour combined with crisp white. If you are interested in the pattern just leave a comment and I will add it later.

My new yellow bedroom

Finally my yellow bedroom is ready. Well it can always be worked on but for the moment I am quite happy with the result. The yellow is so fresh and downloading those images from my camera instantly made me feel good. Happy yellow weekend!

The sand pit - modern & practical

Here we are. Our new sand pit is ready! It hasn't turned out as the ZEN version I had envisioned before but it's very practical with the lid. The rug serves as a comfy underground. Since it's polyester it should not have a problem to stay outside. We'll see in the long run. Our daughter totally loves it! Only problem the sand goes everywhere as she thinks you have to fill the bucket and share with everyone including sofas, tiles etc.

Sand pit - Zen style

Source: http://media.onsugar.com/files/2011/02/07/6/806/8068288/05e8f8dc855985da_dachumbau_05.jpg

This is a rather Zen style sand pit. Awesome, isn't it? But I guess we will have a much less stylish version for our little one...

I was thinking of getting an IKEA Samla box with lid and maybe a rug for underneath. So the tiles (unfortunately we don't have wood) won't be too hard plus we can collect the sand that will wander out of the box afterwards.

A new home

We just moved into our new home. The first move with a baby. But to our surprise we unpacked and got set up even faster than before. Now we can start the fine tuning. I want a yellow themed master bedroom plus ensuite bathroom. The guestroom should get a blue theme the girl's room will be red and fuchsia. And finally the living room will be neutral colours with a few vibrant colour spots...
And then we have a balcony and a roof terrace now. So we need to get outdoor furniture, plants and all that stuff!!!

Here is what I would love to make it look like...

A little bit minimalist with bamboo in pots and plastic rattan furniture. And a sand pit for our little one.

Leftover buttons turned into a fashionable necklace

I had bought all these wonderful buttons but then they were sitting in a jar with no idea what to do with them. But luckily I came up with this great idea for a necklace. I am really happy with the result. The buttons even make a soft jingle when you move.

Little jacket

Another piece of my home-made collection: a small jacket made of cotton lace. Here is the pattern I used to make it: pailletten-jacke-fledermausaermel-burda-style-07-2011
This is a very easy pattern. Just two pieces and it took only one evening to finish it. I am thinking of making another one maybe from jersey...
